Endocrinology deals with research and treatment of endocrine glands and hormones.
Hormones control a number of basic functions of a human body – growth, regeneration of tissues, metabolism, adjustment to stress, conception and birth, bone density, development of brain, emotions and many other functions of human body. Early detecting of certain disorders in endocrine glands functions is very important for ensuring a balanced and coordinated human body function and activity.
‘Dr Ristic’ Health Centre experts perform diagnostics, follow up and therapy treatments for most common disorders of endocrine glands. These glands are:
- Thyroid gland,
- Hypophysis (pituitary gland),
- parathyroid gland,
- adrenal glands,
- gonad,
- parts of endocrine pancreas, as well as disorders in fats and carbohydrates disorders, i.e. diabetes mellitus and hypolypoproteinemia, as some of the most often diseases nowadays.
As additional diagnostic methods, we can offer a complete laboratory analyses related to hormones, ultrasound of thyroid gland and abdomen (color Doppler device), thin atraumatic needle puncture ( FNA ) , as well as cytology diagnostics of thyroid gland.
Endocrinology examinations may be performed also at a patient’s home.
Within Dr Ristić Health Centre, every second Wednesday each month, from 6 to 7 PM counseling related to diabetes issues is regularly organized. This counseling is completely free of charge and it is organized and guided by endocrinology specialist Dr Slađana Drobnjak and hygiene specialist Dr Olga Hadžić.
