The use of ultrasound in gynaecology

Ultrasound examination is applied in gynaecology and obstetrics by vaginal probe. Indications for ultrasound examination in gynaecology are:

   1. suspected disorders and pathological states and their follow up
   2. uterus myoma, ovarian tumors, inflammations, in-uterus inserts, endometriosis, ectopic pregnancy, trofoblast tumors, uterus anomalies , aplasia, hipoplasia of genitals…
   3. palpitative changes
   4. rigidity of abdominal muscles, stiffness due to painful sensitivity or due to overweight, in patients with limited movements capacity, in virgo intacta, in elderly women with vaginal strictyra, in patients with vulva burns
   5. follow up of physiological processes (enlargement of endometrium, development of follicles, detection of ovulation)
   6. early and late post-surgical complications in small pelvis
   7. diagnosis of pregnancy, pregnancy follow up, follow up of foetus


Preparation

For examination with vaginal probe, differently from abdominal probe, it is necessary to have empty cradle and empty intestine (if possible).
